Visit Our
Sacred Land

Visit Mr. Rock

Who is Mr Rock?

Mr Rock is part of the collective of the Land, along with the trees, the moss, the ferns, the water, the soil, and the many beings who live here visibly and invisibly.

He sits on a parcel of Sacred Land on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, between Lake Crescent and Sol Duc Hot Springs, just off the Olympic Discovery Trail. He has been there for longer than people can remember. Stand beside him when you visit and tell us what you experienced.

How to Approach the Land

The first step is simple yet often overlooked by people from Western cultures: before you enter the land, ask it for permission to enter.

You can do this before you leave home. Close your eyes and picture yourself standing at the trailhead. In your own words, let the Land know who you are and that you would like to visit. Ask if you may enter and connect.

Then pay attention. You can do this by daydreaming it. When you feel the love after asking for permission, then you know the answer :)

This is a real practice. It is the protocol we use every time we arrive and a tradition that our relatives use when visiting lands. Land has its own sovereignty, and a relationship begins with acknowledging that. If something feels like a "not now," respect that. The Land will still be here when you are ready.

Getting There

From Port Angeles, take Highway 101 West. After you pass Lake Crescent, you will see a large brown signpost for Sol Duc Hot Springs. The road to the Hot Springs is on your left.

From the parking area, follow the trailhead. The Access Gaia Land is the first parcel on your left, marked with surveyor markers. It extends past Mr Rock and up to the junction with the Olympic Discovery Trail. The entrance to the Land itself is blocked by a fallen tree — Sasquatch placed it there to keep cars out.

Here is the Google Maps link.

Please Note

The Land is natural and undeveloped, with uneven terrain, downed branches, shifting weather, and all the rest of what real forest contains. Visit at your own discretion and prepare for what you find. Access Gaia cannot be responsible for injuries, accidents, or property damage on the Land — by visiting, you accept that, which is true of any wild place you walk into.

No overnight camping is allowed at any time; however, there's a neighbor next door who offers camping services and has been recommended by visitors in the past.
